APM Indie Artists Live with Blondfire

There are songs that can capture a moment, define a vibe, or move people, yet fade away as with the passage of time. Then there are songs that do the same yet linger on forever. These special songs, no matter how one plays or produces them – whether a polished electronic pop version or bare acoustic guitar and vocal – remain beautiful and memorable.

Erica Driscoll, also known as Blondfire, has the gift of writing songs of this caliber. Consider the song “Get You High,” a song from her self-titled debut EP with APM Music’s label Kinetik, which she produced with Wally Gagel of Wax Ltd. The version in the EP is a hard-driving, electronic indie pop gem that encourages people to open their car windows during long drives and let the wind sweep their hairs while belting along with the unbelievable catchy chorus – sounds like a car commercial? Yes, the song is great for that one too.

But today, in celebration of Women’s History Month 2025, some lucky people at APM Music saw Blondfire perform this song unplugged and in-the-flesh. This special version, however, is as beautiful as the recorded version, yet gives off a very different vibe–one that is still positive, yet with a tinge of melancholia. It’s pure magic, and we cannot help but share this live version with the world, so here it is!

About Blondfire

Blondfire began in the early 2000s as a collaboration between Erica and her brother, Bruce Driscoll. The Michigan-born siblings, raised in a home filled with American rock and Brazilian music (thanks to their mother’s heritage), were drawn to songwriting from an early age. Originally called Astaire, they built a buzz in the indie music scene with their dreamy, melodic pop. However, after facing legal pressure over the name, they rebranded as Blondfire.

Their 2008 debut album, My Someday, showcased their signature blend of airy vocals, shimmering guitars, and electronic elements. But it was their 2012 single “Where the Kids Are” that truly launched them into the spotlight. The song’s infectious energy caught the attention of major labels, leading to a deal with Warner Bros. and the release of Young Heart (2014), an album filled with sun-soaked indie pop anthems.

After Bruce shifted his focus to other musical projects (including Freedom Fry), Erica took full creative control of Blondfire, steering the project as a solo act while keeping its dreamy, nostalgic essence intact.
