Welcome to you all, I recommend you make a pot (not a cup) of tea for this one!
Something of a change today, an ariel introduction to village nearby to home, from where there was a wonderful wrought iron footbridge we used for decades to film and watch the trains pass by on the Midland main line as a family.
Located between Wellingborough and Kettering, Isham is a great location to go to. Walking distance from Burton Latimer and has the A509 running through it, access is easy.
Isham is in the civil parish of Isham itself, which is part of the North Northamptonshire unitary authority in Northamptonshire, England. It is not a subsidiary part of a larger civil parish, but rather its own administrative entity, the Isham Parish Council, which serves the village.
So the purpose of my visits, week commecing Monday 11th August 2025, was to film from various current available spots using the bridge as the nucleus of filming within 1/2 mile radius.
The first video that dad filmed, (within this extended film) is from 2008, when just two lines here were required since the removal of the slow lines early 1980s due to costs of maintenance and general upkeep.
Then we move to the second film which is back in 2012 when the third line was re-connected and used as bi-directional.
We also take a look at some of the construction work which took place on the next bridge north, Station Road, Burton Latimer, next too Weetabix, which shows the depth of planning and workload required to install the fourth line, raise all bridges in readiness for the budgeted and agreed OHL extensions from Bedford to Wigston and beyond (currently suspended at time of upload), replace old rail beds and track and so on.
I walk some of the local trails open access near the line and film the wildlife, horses, River Ise, and also as many various trains from different angles as i can, whether drone, video or stills, including the contribution from David, whom filmed 37501 (which stars more than once) working 5Q50, David is the local postie whom i spent a while with chatting, thankyou for your time, and regards to your family, thankyou for subscribing and watching smilevideotrains and being a smiler!
Nearer the end of this epic film, i share some various shots over the years from this area and then head back home.
A long film recorded over a 4 day period, however hope you enjoy!
The Lilacs, well worth a visit

The Mill Today
The remains of Isham Mill are now derelict, consisting of walls, millstones, and other architectural fragments from its last active period. These ruins are a remnant of its long history, which saw it serve as a paper, silk, carpet, and flour mill.
