I decided to replace the Randall designed speaker in my Randall 1x12 cabinet with a Celestion G12F-60 that I bought off craigslist for $20. I read several reviews on the G12F before I bought it and they all said it was very similar to a V-30. I had a Celestion speaker in my previous Randall amp and it sounded great, so I thought why not. The Randall designed speaker wasn't bad at all, it just wasn't a Celestion. Anyway, here are the results, so you be the judge! All audio was recorded using a Randall RD45H all tube head (with no effects at all) and Randall 1x12 cabinet through a Shure SM58 microphone, Behringer Xenyx 1202FX mixer, and into Audacity on my laptop via a Behringer UCA222 U-Control audio interface . Amp, mixer, and guitar settings were left the same for all audio clips to ensure uniformity. Face to the floor by Chevelle was played on my Dean Hardtail tuned to drop C with Ernie Ball skinny top heavy bottom strings with the switch in the middle position and volume at 10, Amp set to high gain channel with boost off. Seek and destroy by Metallica was played on my Fender HSS Stratocaster tuned to E standard with Ernie Ball super slinky strings with the switch at the bridge position and volume at 10, amp set to high gain channel with boost active. Take me in by Kutless was played on the same Fender Strat with switch set to bridge and middle pickups and amp switched between clean and gain channels. Thanks for watching!
