I just heard about this small forest a few weeks before my trip to Ecuador. I read some stuff online and realized that it should be good for herping. So contacted the phone number I could find online, and boom!
Jason, the manager of the reserve answered me and was the nicest person ever. He helped me set up a day and night walk in the forest with a herpetologist, Sebastian.
This video is about these two walks in the forest. I don't have much footage as it rained almost all the time, mostly so hard that even taking photos was hard. But managed to find a lot of cool species, glass frogs, and different snakes and lizards.
My favorite species were the Emerald glass frog (Espadarana prosoblepon), the Little Devil poison frog (Oophaga sylvatica), and of course the Terciopelo (Bothrops asper).
This place is truly amazing, where you have a chance to experience the jungle in a way usually it would be impossible. I am heading back next
March, and hopefully this time I will be able to get enough footage for a proper full-length nature documentary episode.
