On July, 10th, 2013 - CSX K041 was on the move heading north on the CSX Trenton-Subdivision with a unique lashup that included a BNSF Warbonnet / Fakebonnet C44-9W leading. Now originally this train made a daylight appearance on Saturday (July, 6th, 2013) with the same power. Luckily I was fortunate enough to shoot the train operating on Saturday as CSX K040. But than it hit me and I choice to wait and shoot it again when it would come back north a few days later to actually upload any footage of it. So today we had another opportunity to see it travel north.
Anyway, a friend and I hooked up this morning and together we headed over to South Plainfield, NJ on the CSAO Lehigh Line to catch it again there. We had gotten word that a Loram railgrinder was operating on the Trenton-Sub between the area of CP-Wood and CP-Trent. We didn't know exactly what this meant but than a contact in West Trenton, NJ confirmed that it would run around the railgrinder instead of holding for it. We waited close to 1 hour for it to show and we saw some trains during this time. Than finally the train was in Conrail territory and we got the shots we wanted. This locomotive is also one of a handful of C44-9W's ordered by BNSF following the BN / Santa Fe merger of 1996 that came factory painted in the original Warbonnet paint scheme.
