This is definitely a more advanced pattern because of how we finish it with the second dowel, and because it is mostly Double Half Hitch knots. If you need some help, I know DDH knots are tricky at first, here is a link to my slow, in depth tutorial on them. In it I have included all of my tips, tricks, so after watching you will feel like a pro:

For the dowel I used a 1 inch thick, and 8 inch long dowel which I purchase from the lumbar store, cut and sand myself. It is a ton of work, but I really enjoy having my custom dowels on hand. If you see the first one I use as reference, it used a smaller thickness of dowel, and I actually prefer that size, so don't worry about thickness!

For the embroidery portion I just used some yarn I had kicking around, nothing special. If you don't have yarn you can use a thinner macrame string, I have made these with the 1.5mm string in my shop and it was beautiful. Yarn is definitely more cost effective though.


Here are the material I used in this video:
~ 1in/2.5cm thick, and 8in/21cm long dowel.
~ 5mm single twist string cut to:
12 x 7ft/213cm, total cord was 84 feet.
~ knitting needle
~ sewing needle
~ 3mm seed beads (you can use any beads you’d like!)
~ various yarns
~ raw edge chiffon ribbon
~ glue
~ scissors
