The Best Railcart Ride -SANTA CRUZ to WATSONVILLE- California-U.S. [CC] 4k

Join me on an exciting 16 mile (26 km) Railcart ride along the California coast, exploring beautiful landscapes of forests, beaches, fields, cruising through streets, with Drone and 360 Cam footage. In the company of my friend Wesley, who has a very well designed rail biker!!!. Let's continue! We pass by many bridges, some original and others renovated from the Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay Railroad, remembering the days when trains ran on these rails. Along the way, starting from the beautiful city of Santa Cruz CA. we pass through the towns of Twin Lakes, Capitola, Seacliff, Aptos, La Selva, Ellicot, a place with lots of vegetation and some swamps, to finish the tour near Watsonville CA. (Santa Cruz County). Exactly on LEE Rd., there are many fields of vegetables and fruits. It has been many years since a train ran on this railroad. This branch line is not a long-standing line, but we can still enjoy the scenery and excitement of venturing along this route.
History of the Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay Railroad: The rail line was built from 1873 to 1876 as the Santa Cruz Railroad, using narrow gauge rails. After financial problems, it was sold to Southern Pacific, which converted it to standard gauge and operated it until 1888. The Aptos branch line was built in 1883 and abandoned in 1928. The line was extended to Davenport in 1905 and was used to transport freight and passengers. Special excursion trains were also used in the summer. The line went through several changes and improvements, but the Pajaro River bridge was eventually damaged in 1989. The line became the property of Union Pacific in 1996. The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission purchased the rail corridor in 2012 and began freight operations with Iowa Pacific Holdings. Since 2018, Progressive Rail, Inc. has been the freight operator. Options are being evaluated to rehabilitate the rail line and improve public transportation in the area. A demonstration tram was operated in 2021 and public input on future plans was sought in 2024. Enjoy the ride with us on the Zorrito Railcart !!!!

Pasamos por muchos puentes, algunos originales y otros renovados del ferrocarril de Santa Cruz y Monterey Bay, recordando los días en que los trenes circulaban por estos rieles. A lo largo del trayecto, partiendo de la bella ciudad de Santa Cruz CA. atravesamos las localidades de Twin Lakes, Capitola, Seacliff, Aptos, La Selva, Ellicot, un lugar con mucha vegetación y algunos pantanos, para finalizar el recorrido cerca de Watsonville CA. (Condado de Santa Cruz). Exactamente en LEE Rd., hay muchos campos de vegetales y frutas. Hace muchos años que no circula un tren por este ramal, pero todavía podemos disfrutar del paisaje y la emoción de aventurarnos por este trayecto.
