The Royal Fusiliers deployed to Korea in 1952 and served there until the end of the War on 27 July 1953. During that time they were involved in fighting in and around the Hook as well as other operational areas.
By the end of the tour the Fusiliers had suffered 31 Killed in Action, 6 Prisoners of War and more than 120 Casualties.
This film remembers a key character in the Regiment, the Padre, Freddie Preston. His story is told by Mike Mogridge and Malcolm Frost who recall Freddie and specifically his actions one night to visit the frontline.
The Royal Fusiliers amalgamated with three other fusilier regiments, the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers and the Lancashire Fusiliers in 1968 to create the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. This film is part of their regimental project to gather and tell the stories of fusiliers who have served across the world.
