I had the opportunity a few months ago to meet Elizabeth LaPorte, the head luthier at Tarisio NYC.  It was one of those marvelous situations you find yourself in, where there's a giant table of violins stretched out before you, and another smaller one of bows.  Obviously, I went about being completely anti-social, fixating on the instruments in front of me- and had the pleasure of not only finding an excellent modern instrument, but of being able to meet the maker right then and there.  We decided to meet at a later date, and film a conversation- and here are the results!  

Elizabeth does incredible work in restoration and crafting her own instruments- I brought my violin to her, and it just sounds SO good now, I'm over the moon with it.  If you're curious at all about what goes into violin making and restoration, Elizabeth will go into it all within these next few episodes, the last of which will include a sound test of her 2020 violin.  I highly recommend tuning in!
