The Ending Effect in Call of Duty Zombies

Welcome to the ninth episode of my weekly series dubbed "The Mainframe". Inside this week's topic, we discuss ending a game of zombies after an easter egg. We dive into the history of game-ending easter egg quests with Mob of the dead, then walk through other maps like Origins and IX, then discuss how effective these techniques were in practice.

We flesh out ideas in which end game easter eggs can be used effectively along with the idea of when not to end the game. Allowing players to follow the fun after the main quest can allow for players to try new features they wouldn't have otherwise.

Obviously, almost every player wants to keep playing after a zombies easter egg, but what else could Treyarch do to make that effective? How can Treyarch make it so when a game ends it pack a real punch instead of it being an expectation like in Black Ops 4? Most of all how can the main quests do better than giving Perma perk at the end of an egg? We discuss all the questions and more on this episode.
