This is a quick and reliable recipe and instructions for tea dying cotton, linen, hemp and other natural fabrics for use in slow stitching projects. I'm dying cutter quilt pieces and crocheted doily scraps today in 12 cups water with 3 T kosher salt, then setting the dye with a rinse bath of 8 cups of water and 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar. I did not heat set, but if you're laundering your projects with tea dyed pieces, you can iron, put in dryer, or even set with a blow dryer to further color fast.
