📜 Daniel’s Prophecy: The Prayer God Answers
As for most, we regularly want to know, “How long must I Suffer?” Daniel was no exception to this. He models a prayer that is honest, corporate, and covenant-aware: Daniel tears his heart, not his garments—fasting, confessing, and appealing to God’s chesed (loyal covenant love) while refusing to stand apart from his people’s guilt. He defines sin plainly as turning from God’s commandments and pleads with God to hear (shema), pardon (salach), and attend (qashab)—a timeless pattern modern Believers can adopt to move from remorse to obedient return. This is the posture that readies us for God’s unfolding plan—before we ever debate the “70 weeks.”
💭 Top Questions:
• Does God’s chesed rest on love alone, or love and obedience? What does that obedience look like today?
• How does Daniel’s definition of sin challenge modern, feelings-based ethics?
• Which part of the shema/salach/qashab pattern is hardest for you to pray—and practice?
🗝️ Key Biblical Points:
• The Prayer posture matters
• Chesed and Covenant
• Daniel’s solidarity
• What is sin?
• The threefold plea
