We took a break from the Pacific Coast of Mexico to see some of the interior. Our first stop was the beautiful town of Patzcuaro. Surrounded by mountains and anchored by a lake, the town has a rural vibe and tons of cool things to see. For us, it was a nice break from the heat on the coast. For the first time in months, we put on pants and shoes. We explored the lake and found the secret mountain road that took us to heaven.
If you are visiting here we recommend:
-Take a day trip to Isla Janitzio
-Take the road El Calvario to the top of the mountain to witness the most spectacular view of the town below
-Circumnavigate the lake by taking the highway loop
-Explore the city center plazas, with the various markets and outdoor eateries
