Ranunculus, a beautiful, rose-like flower, is a stunning addition to your garden or home.
Ranunculus grow from dried-up octopus-looking corms.
They are cool climate plants that like a lot of sunlight but don't love the heat,
making it not easy to grow Ranunculus in regions with short growing seasons (zone 9-11).
In this video, I will share how to pre-sprout and grow Ranunculus in the fall for late winter blooms.
When to Plant?
For Zones 4-6 (Cold Winters): Plant in Spring (April to May) for Summer blooms
For Zones 7-8 (Cool Winters): Plant in the Fall (October to November) for spring blooms.
For Zones 9-11 (Mild Winters): Plant in the fall (October to December) for winter and early spring blooms.
Why Pre-sprouting?
Ranunculus grow from dried-up octopus-looking corms.
In zones 9-11 where winter is too warm and the weather is changeable, ranunculus has short growing seasons.
Pre-sprouting can help ranunculus get an early jumpstart to avoid corms rotting or less blooms due to high heat.
Pre-sprouting is also useful for gardeners who want to extend the blooming period.
