Lagavulin 13 ('21 Jazz Fest, Finished in Mezcal) Review - Vs. '23 Tequila Finished Special Release

The channel reached 2,000 Subscribers this week, and we're celebrating with a special bottle review: Lagavulin's 2021 54.8% ABV Jazz Fest Release, 13 Years matured in refill American Oak, Finished in Mezcal Casks. Mezcal and Tequila casks were first approved for use maturing scotch whisky by the SWA in 2021, so this special Jazz Fest release is a very early example using these casks. I personally purchased this bottle in the shop at the Lagavulin distillery, and I've been saving it for a special occasion. In this video, I taste the whisky, share my thoughts, and provide my review and rating.

In this video, I also compare this special (1 of 3,000) bottle to a similar and more widely available Lagavulin release: the 2023 Special Release Lagavulin 12 Year, 56.4% ABV, finished in Don Julio Tequila casks. I taste both in the video, compare the two, and reveal my pick as to which is the better whisky...
