Effectrode Blackbird Tube Preamp - Keeley GeX2/30ms/Eccos/Hydra DSM Humboldt Simplifier - EoB Strat

Hello and welcome to PedalScapes 1st Play:
Featuring the: Effectrode Blackbird Dual Channel Tube/Valve Preamp.

Built a board to play around with stereo effects using the DSM Humboldt Simplifier.

Wanted to try a tube based pedal in front of the Simplifier to see if it would would warm it up and perhaps give a more amp like feel. Objective achieved with the Fender MTG Tube Distortion (see video here    • Fender MTG tube drive/EoB Strat -Keeley Sw...   ).

I had of course been gassing for the effectrode but was unable to source one until earlier this week when they sent an email saying stock was available - I pounced - which leads us here.

For me this was a real revelation. Being a clean channel advocate my penchant for glassy tube warmth was more than adequately satisfied. However the biggest surprise of all was.... drum roll.... the gain channel - it's fabulous, clear and articulate with amazing dynamics and string seperation... Blimey! I may just become a gain channel convert if the Blackbird is anything to go by...

Signal chain:
Keeley GeX2 -- Effectrode Blackbird --
Simplifier preamp set to AC Brit, Master at 2/3 gain at 1/4, eq minimal roll off --
preamp send to the 30ms, Eccos and Hydra running in stereo returned to the loop --
presence and resonance slight cut -- 6L6 -- L & R 4x12 (dialled back from centre to about1 O'clock).

Guitar of choice: The Fender Ed O'Brien Stratocaster
