"The Gold Coast, Australia's number one playground, continues to attract the young, and the young at heart, with its special mixture of sun, surf and sophistication, softened by the surrounding majestic hinterland.

These songs were the winners of a Gold Coast City Council nation wide competition to find a Gold Coast anthem. Tom Louch is a Victorian, a member of the Victorian Songwriters' Guild, whilst Clyde Collins is a local Gold Coast musician whose previous numbers include "Smiley", "The Sunshine State" and "The Alexandra Waltz."

Lovelace Watkins has come to love this area which he has been associated with for nearly fifteen years. He was one entertainer who helped raise money when Gold Coast homes and beaches were threatened in the 1974 flood.

Gold Coast Mayor, Alderman Keith Hunt has made Lovelace the area's Ambassador at Large. Both men share the sense of fun, adventure and excitement that is Gold Coast."
