On November 14, 2021, Trains Magazine hosted the annual photo charter of SOO Line 1003. They put on quite a show with lots of stack talk and whistle action, along with the help of lots of snow for most of the shots.
SOO Line 1003 is an L-1 class 2-8-2 mikado was built by The American Locomotive Company (ALCO) in march of 1913. The locomotive was used by SOO until its retirement in 1954. In the mid 1970s, Superior Shortline Steam Railroad Ltd. was organized to restore the locomotive to operations. 1003 made its first run under its own power after being fully restored on October 27, 1996 after a major overhaul. The locomotive is now owned, maintained, and operated by the Steam Locomotive Heritage Association based out of Hartford Wisconsin.
Throughout the charter, I tried to grab as many videos as I could. Unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery just after Horicon, so I was unable to get any videos from those locations.
