Welcome to East Hollywood — just past the 101, on a block most people speed past. But in the 1930s, something wild happened upstairs at 1154 N Western Ave.
This is where Walt Disney lost Oswald the Lucky Rabbit… and where some say Mickey Mouse was truly born. Mintz Animation Studio set up shop here in 1930 — a forgotten chapter of LA cartoon history, full of poached animators, cartoon brawls, and the strange charm of a block cut off by the freeway.
Take a walk with us. Old sidewalks still whisper.
