Our last few days left in Japan and hopefully the last of the humidity that we’ve been struggling with. Next 3 nights were spent in a bit of luxury, nice aircon and two separate double beds with an awesome TV that we took full advantage off playing Marion Kart.
We finally went and found all the food trucks that Andy became obsessed with watching the YouTube videos about and it was worth it.
We were unable to book our ferry tickets to South Korea online as the Japanese website didn’t recognise our foreign plates on the car. Please note that if you do what we did and just rock up, be prepared that you’ll need to wait a couple of days for your tickets. Email address’s are below with the team that helped us for the Camellia line, best to send an email before you arrive.

IMPORANT NOTES for Korean Customs!
1. BRING CASH!
Your car will not be released from customs until you have purchased Car Insurance, this is compulsory in Korea.
What we weren’t told was that it needed to be paid in cash….they wanted 600,000 won and we didn’t have enough, no other forms of payment were accepted, strictly cash only.
Why was this an issue, let us tell you!
First ATM wouldn’t accept our card.
The Currency Exchange shop would only do cash
Second ATM failed
Left the port and find one outside
Finally found one only to discover that it had a withdrawal limit of 100,000 won with a fee of 4,800won….doing that 6 times was painful with the fees.
Back to customs, questioned the length of Insurance and asked them to reduce the length of Insurance, showed them our Russian Ferry tickets out and they adjusted it reluctantly. This changed the cost from 600,000won to 319,000won….
The SIM card we purchased we discovered that as a foreigner could only be activated in a store….we found a Maccers used their free wifi and did an eSim, then got a bit lost on the highways and finally made it to our destination at 10:30pm…
Fun times.
