എന്താണ് റോ ഫയലുകൾ? RAW vs JPEG?
RAW File
A RAW file is an unprocessed image format that retains all data captured by a camera sensor, offering maximum flexibility for editing, with higher dynamic range and detail than compressed formats like JPEG.
JPG Files
A JPG (or JPEG) file is a compressed image format widely used for its small size and compatibility. It uses lossy compression, reducing file size while sacrificing some image quality and detail.
HEC / HEIF Formats
HEC (High-Efficiency Codec) and HEIF (High-Efficiency Image File Format) are modern image formats designed to improve storage efficiency.
HEC is the codec technology that compresses images with higher quality and smaller file sizes compared to JPG.
HEIF is the container format that stores these compressed images, supporting advanced features like transparency, depth maps, and multiple image sequences.
DNG File
A DNG (Digital Negative) file is an open-source RAW image format developed by Adobe, ensuring compatibility, efficient storage, and long-term accessibility for photographers.

Bit Depth
A standard JPG (or JPEG) file typically supports 8 bits per color channel, resulting in a total of 24-bit color depth (8 bits each for red, green, and blue). This allows up to 16.7 million colors.
RAW files typically support 12-bit, 14-bit, or 16-bit color depth per channel, depending on the camera. This allows for significantly higher tonal and color information compared to JPEG, capturing billions of colors and offering greater flexibility for editing.
Most RAW files do not carry 32-bit color depth. They typically support 12-bit, 14-bit, or 16-bit per channel, depending on the camera.
However, 32-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) images are possible but are usually not stored in RAW formats; they are processed outputs, often using formats like OpenEXR or HDRI for specialized applications. Cameras themselves do not produce 32-bit RAW files directly.
