Discover the rugged beauty of Alberta’s backcountry on the Drummond Creek Trail, a hidden gem nestled within Whitehorse Wildland Provincial Park. This 9 km one-way trail offers a moderately challenging hike through a pristine subalpine ecosystem, and features four creek crossings, small waterfalls, and sweeping views of the surrounding wilderness. When we went, we followed the horse trail so ended up making a total of 6 creek crossings and didn't make it down the whole trail.
Ideal for experienced hikers and nature lovers, the trail steadily climbs through lush forested terrain, making it a perfect escape for those seeking solitude and scenic rewards. With no bridges and minimal infrastructure, Drummond Creek Trail promises an authentic wilderness experience.
Whether you're hiking in summer or snowshoeing in winter, this trail showcases the untouched beauty of Alberta’s eastern slopes. Horseback riding is permitted on designated routes, adding to the trail’s versatility.
For those wondering, it started to rain about half an hour after we made it back to the vehicle.
