Eric Lu performs Schubert Impromptu No. 3 (Op. posth. 142): Thema & Variation I

Eric Lu performs the Thema & Variation I from Franz Schubert’s Impromptu No. 3 in B-Flat Major, D. 935 (Op. posth. 142).

Composed in 1827, just a year before Schubert’s death, the set of four Impromptus D. 935 was published posthumously. The third Impromptu is a theme and variations that allude to on a melody from Schubert’s own incidental music for the play Rosamunde, a theme he also utilized in his String Quartet No. 13 in A minor.
