MUNTER RETRIEVABLE REDIRECT
My preferred SRT retrievable redirect: It's simple and requires no hardware or any other components — just the life-line. It even works on a bare bole without any laterals. It can also be set remotely.
CAUTION: There are a few subtleties that take some practice. So, practice it on the ground a few times first. *LOW&SLOW*!
I have found this trick to be less time & trouble than some of the other techniques out there; like carrying, setting, retrieving and stowing a friction saver with retrieval balls and such, for example. There is no equipment to carry or stow and nothing to drop. That's why it became my fav SRT retrievable redirect technique. 👍👍
STEPS TO SET THE REDIRECT:
1) Lanyard-in
2) Put a bight from TIP around the redirect
3) Disconnect the climbing system from the bridge.
4) Pass the climbing system through the bite.
5) Reconnect the climbing system to the bridge.
6) Feed enough loop & rope tail through the bite to reach the new work position
7) Weight the system, remove lanyard & descend
LANYARD IN & WORK
STEPS TO RETRIEVE THE REDIRECT:
1) Lanyard in
2) Fasten rope-tail to any secure location
3) Pull the bite down within reach by pulling on the line from bottom of the system while feeding any accumulating loop back up through the system
4) Pass the climbing system back through the bite.
5) Pull all the rope down through the climbing system & weight the system to the TIP
6) Remove lanyard, release rope-tail.
7) Move to the next work position.
