WHAT IS THE HURRY MUNCIE CITY COUNCILOR WILLIAM MCINTOSH?

The Muncie (Indiana) City Council's "Land & Traffic Committee" met at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, to discuss four ordinances Muncie Mayor Dan RIdenour wants the Council to pass in the near future (February/March of 2025). The four ordinances are related to annexing land in the northwestern portion of the city of Muncie.

Three of the nine City Councilors make up the Land & Traffic Committee. Those Councilors are:

Committee Chair - At Large Councilor William McIntosh (D)...
Committee Member - District 2 Councilor Nora Powell (D)...
Committee Member - District 4 Councilor Sara Gullion (D)...

The ordinances discussed in this committee meeting are:

29-24: Portions of Farmington Neighborhood...
30-24: Portions of Heron Pointe Neighborhood...
31-24: City-Owned Parcel Near Farmington Neighborhood...
32-24: Westminster Village. . .

This meeting was for the committee members to have any questions answered by the Mayor and his team. It also allowed the citizens of Muncie to address the committee with any thoughts, questions, and/or concerns they might have! This was supposed to be an information-gathering meeting so the committee could return a recommendation to the full nine-person Council.

THIS VIDEO... shows two specific sections of the meeting that The Political Spotlight's Host, Kristopher H. Bilbrey, takes issue with!

(First) A little less than halfway through the meeting, at 37 minutes and 40 seconds, Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour steps away from the podium, and a citizen gets up and walks to the podium to speak. At that point, Committee Chair, Councilor William McIntosh, says: "I'LL TRY TO SPEED THIS UP!"

WHAT??? WHY? DON'T SPEED THIS UP! LET IT TAKE AS LONG AS IT TAKES!

Even both of the other Councilors try to tell him, no, it's ok!

That is concerning!

(Second) At the end of the meeting, Committee Chair, Councilor William McIntosh, stated that he emailed the Mayor and others in the Mayor's administration about questions he had. He says he still wants some answers before the Council meeting on (February 3, 2025). He continues by saying, "There are 9 of them (questions) here..." and then he makes some hand gestures and stumbles over some words before saying, "I... We... our times out right now! I thought you would be coming in with those (answers to his questions), you know, just straight off, without me having to ask."

This video ends there, but in the full video, the point is over. He says, "BUT WE'RE GOOD!" and then moves on to another topic!

The point here is that this goes along with the first issue! WHAT IS THE HURRY!?

Councillor McIntosh, you are supposed to be doing the people's work, but you can't do that if you're always in a hurry! YOU WILL MISS THINGS! Another thing you must understand is that Mayor Ridenour will NEVER give you answers without you having to push for them, so you will have to get it together!
