劍客花千樹有劍「寒星」「齊物」，相劍師王十騎一見「齊」劍，大驚，勸弃之，否則必死劍下，花不以爲意。
花千樹仗劍縱橫江湖，所向無敵，却突然退隱，但年青一輩劍客，仍然千方百計找之决鬥，冀能揚名天下，李驀然即其一。李重金請得白鴿老人查出花所在，豈料找到去，見一劍客，亦是尋花，二人惡鬥，李被迫殺劍客，是夜，李宿客棧，一少女被殺手仇歡追殺闖入，李仗義救少女。反被少女斥爲多管閑事。翌日，大雨滂沱，李避雨荒野亭中，再與少女遇，二人冰釋前嫌，共同上路，少女自稱石頭兒，不允將本來姓名透露。
路上，李遇舊侶言小語，石頭兒因妒一怒而去，李亦被言夫連環著陳鐵衣追殺，傷重倒于路邊，爲花千樹相好鉉姬所救，時有人送信到來，說花千樹愛女花盈之在他們手中，要鉉姬轉告花千樹拿寶劍來換，李知道願往救，一場劇戰，從仇歡手中救出花盈之，始知即爲石頭兒，再知盈之實爲花千樹之女，喜出望外，盈之知李找父決鬥，力阻不及，轉告鉉姬，鉉姬轉往勸李，李只答應不傷花千樹，豈料一戰之下，化因舊患復發，傷在李劍下，連環即與手下鐵衣乘機嫁禍李而殺花奪劍，鉉遂自刎花靈前，在盈之準備往找李同時，連環亦著陳鐵衣往殺李，事爲言小語知悉，走報盈之，盈之妒恨未消，又因連環有話在先，不聽解釋，反將小語送交連環，再找李算賬，及找到李，正遇李與陳鐵衣惡戰，終明白一切，殺鐵衣，再闖連環府邸，但小語此時已死連環劍下，盈之知小語因己而死，悄然遠去，李亦將二劍拋下斷崖，天涯浪迹。

Swords, like diamonds, sometimes carry a curse. And the famous sword Chi Mud is such a sword. When swordmaster Wah acquies Chi Mud, he is adviced to destroy it or he will be killed by this very sword. Wah does not listen. He has already retired into seclusion and does not think the young swordsmen can find and challenge him.

Lee is such a young swordsman. He even has dueled and killed another young challenger.

Lee by accident saves a young girl from a professional killer. In a few days, the girl and Lee become friends.

But the girls leaves in anger when Lee meets his old flame Yen, now married to Lien Kwan. Lee is ambushed by killer Chan but is saved by Lady Hsuen who was Wah's lover.

Upon hearing Wah's daughter Ying had been kidnapped, Lee goes to her rescue only to find Ying is the girl he had rescued before. But Lee still wants to challenge Wah in spite of his love for Wah's daughter.

Lee and Wah meet, Wah is wounded and is murdered by Lien Kwan's killer, to frame Lee. Ying is now on the trail of vengeance. In the meantime, Yen is sacrificed. When Ying discovers her mistake, Lee is in great danger. The two of them finally win over the treacherous Lien Kwan.

Ying leaves, Lee throws the Chi Mud sword in to a ravine.
