The chatter of the downstairs bar and the creaking of the floorboards in the hallway are drowned out by the rain, leaving only a faint audible sound.

I turn my head and gaze outside. Through the rain-soaked window, the nighttime scenery of the village spreads out. Even in the darkness, I can see the yellow lights of candles and lanterns, scattered here and there. Their lights flicker faintly on the rain-soaked cobblestone streets. This city, devoid of the daytime bustle, seems to be immersed in a silent darkness at night.

Tomorrow, I must recheck the map of the ancient ruins heading south from here. I worry that the old parchment in my bag might be wet, but I don't want to move from this warm, safe bed right now. My body, having spent the past few weeks sleeping in a tent, seems to be whispering to me to fully enjoy this cozy space.

The sound of the rain lulls me into sleep. Tomorrow's adventure will begin with the rising sun. I drift off to sleep, grateful for this calm and restful night.
