Greenhouse gas emissions reduction was the primary driver in the development of the North America's first fully electric full-size refuse collection truck, but the Mack LR Electric brings other benefits too. Noise reduction, lower maintenance costs, and it will even plow snow on its New York City collection routes. The New York City Department of Sanitation took delivery of the first LR Electric in early 2020 and it's now in field testing. Equipment Editor Jim Park was in Allentown Pennsylvania for the launch.
