The cockpit of the Abt RS 6-R Facelift convinces with the flawless workmanship typical of Audi. The standard sports seats are decorated with embroidered Abt and type logos and create the balancing act between a lot of lateral support and a high level of comfort. The round, Alcantara-covered Abt steering wheel lies perfectly in the hands and exudes a touch of racing feeling with its LED shift light. This is intensified when the start / stop button is pressed when the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 roars to life. The tuning specialists doped him to 730 hp and 920 Newton meters of maximum torque. Compared to the series, this means an increase in output of 170 hp and 220 Newton meters (RS 6 series: 560 HP and 700 Newton meters). This means that the armed V8 biturbo of the RS 6-R has gigantic reserves of power without overwhelming the driver with all his power, because the first few meters show that the RS 6-R has good manners. Despite the high horsepower yield, a turbo lag is not noticeable, the transmission shifts quickly and acts the primordial power of the V8 with confidence.

The eight-speed automatic box doesn't actually have to do much, because there is enough bang even at low speeds. The charged V8 loosely shakes hundreds of Newton meters out of its sleeve. The result is impressive: Even if the maximum torque is not available, unprepared co-drivers involuntarily cramp when the well-trained V8 biturbo starts its easy intermediate sprint. If the drive level "S1" is engaged, the even more intensified sound reinforces the release of endorphins when accelerating. Because then an intimidating thunderstorm of sound brews in the exhaust tract of the RS 6-R, which discharges itself from the four tailpipes in an impressive rumble of thunder when the gas is released. That's what power sounds like.
And although the rumbling engine and the awe-inspiring acceleration of the RS 6-R initially require the driver's full attention, the Abt also puts you in a good mood when cornering. The steering is sporty and tight and surprisingly precise despite the 285s mounted on our test vehicle on the front axle. The two-ton station wagon (empty weight: 2010 kilograms) willingly follows the chosen radii, without rolling, without wobbling. The chassis equipped with new springs and the all-wheel drive convert the enormous power calmly. The Über-RS 6 feels noticeably at home on the racetrack and gently turns with the rear when taking the gas off in fast corners. With all the agility, comfort is not neglected either: The large 22-inch models roll smoothly, the chassis is not too hard despite its sporty qualities and is just as well coordinated as the drive unit of the RS 6-R.
