Anagni, (Latin Anagnia) is an ancient town in Latium, Italy, in the hills east-southeast of Rome, famous for its connections with the papacy and for the picturesque monuments of its unspoiled historical center. Legend, history, and tradition have accompanied the fame of Anagni, the historical center of Ciociaria, where there are traces of human activity through the millennia.
Anagni appears today as a small medieval town, placed on the ridge of a hill (460 meters above sea level), with small twisting streets and steep lanes everywhere. It is built inside powerful Roman boundary walls which seem to preserve, like a treasure-chest, its innumerable treasuries of art and history and its troubling modern contradictions.
The city is divided into eight districts, or contrade: Castello, Torre, Trivio, Tufoli, Piscina, Colle Sant'Angelo, Valle Sant'Andrea, and Cerere.

Anagni è un comune di 21.156 abitanti della provincia di Frosinone. Situata nel Lazio meridionale, dista circa 50 km da Roma.
La città di Anagni, capitale religiosa della confederazione degli Ernici, venne conquistata dai Romani nel 311 a.C.. Il cristianesimo vi venne introdotto a partire dal III secolo anche grazie all'opera del vescovo di Trani, san Magno (250), divenuto poi il patrono della città.
Nel corso del XIX secolo Anagni si presentava come una città moderna rispetto alle città limitrofe, grazie soprattutto al fatto di non essere di proprietà di una famiglia ma di poter godere di alcuni privilegi all'interno dello Stato Pontificio.
