Renowned music photographer and storyteller Henry Diltz, co-owner of the Morrison Hotel Gallery, was featured in a rare solo show that opened with a packed reception at the Gallery's Sunset Marquis Hotel location in West Hollywood on November 3, 2022.

The “BE MUSED: Retrospecting the Inspired Life & Legendary Archive of Henry Diltz” exhibit displays a carefully curated selection of images spanning the six decades-plus he has been documenting pop culture from behind the lens. The exhibit was up for two weeks.

Diltz, 84, co-founded Morrison Hotel Gallery with partners Peter Blachley and Rich Horowitz in 2000, at first just to represent Henry's work. His archive dates back to 1966 when he started shooting as a hobby; it very quickly became a career.

Today, MHG has expanded to three locations (also SoHo and Maui) and represents the work of more than 120 fine-art music photographers.

Diltz said that's why it's been years since he had a solo exhibit at his own gallery.

"Usually, when I go to a show in one of our galleries, I’m lucky to have one or two pictures on the wall," he said. "This time, though, after all these years, it’ll be fun to walk in again and see the wall peppered with just my pictures.”

Diltz shared the stories behind the "BE MUSED" images in a walk-through of the exhibit with music journalist and longtime friend Stephen K. Peeples on November 8, 2022. (Toward the end they, inexplicably and unforgivably, missed talking about his gorgeous portrait of Martha Davis, founder-leader of The Motels.)
