US Vice President JD Vance, Usha Vance depart for Rome for meetings with Meloni, Vatican officials

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance departed for Italy on Thursday (April 17) evening, where he is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and officials at the Vatican. Meloni met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington earlier in the day, and each expressed confidence that the United States and Europe will be able to negotiate a trade deal before his 90-day pause on some tariffs ends.
