Hexagonal Architecture really isn’t about hexagons. It may not even be architecture.
Hexagonal Architecture is a design philosophy based upon boundary constraints.
These constraints are a catalyst that unifies common practices and procedures, such as Design Patterns, Domain-Driven Design, Test-Driven Design, and more within a common context.

Jim Humelsine is a long-time Legacy of SoCraTes viewer and a first-time presenter.
He’s been a software developer since 1985 and has witnessed many changes in the industry.
His favorite topic is designed, which he defines as the fuzzy area between architecture and implementation. He’s interested in Domain-Driven Design, Test-Driven Development, and other related practices and processes, but Design Patterns are his passion.
Jim’s Twitter handle is @Design Pattern Evangelist (Jim), and he’s very active on the Coding Blocks Slack Group (www.codingblocks.net), where he goes by the handle Design Pattern Evangelist (Jim).
