ในเมืองบาดาลมีพญานาคเป็นเจ้าเมืองหลายหัวเมืองที่ทำการปกครองแตกต่างกันออกไป แต่ละเมืองก็จะมีเจ้าเมืองพญานาคปกครองดินแดนของตน บ่อยครั้งก็จมักะมีการแย่งชิงหวงแหนดินแดนตน กระทั่งวันหนึ่งเจ้าเมืองนาคกายสีดำได้รุกล้ำเข้ามาในขอบเขตของเจ้าเมืองนาคกายสีทอง ทำให้ทั้งสองมีปากเสียงกัน ทันใดนั้นเกิดสงครามสู้รบกันในเมืองบาดาล ทั้งสองต่างพ่นพิษฤทธิ์ร้ายใส่กันอย่างไม่ยั้งมือ ถือว่าจะต้องฆ่าอีกฝ่ายให้ตาย มิวายหมายจะถือครองดินแดน แต่เรื่องมันไม่ง่าย ด้วยฤทธิ์ร้ายของแต่ละฝ่ายก็กำกลายให้เจ้าเมืองนาคทั้งสองตายไปพร้อมๆกัน ร่างของนาคทั้งสองนั้นพลันแปรเปลี่ยนมาเป็นเพชรสีนิลบนแท่นหินในถ้ำใต้เมืองบาดาล เมื่อถึงฤดูแล้งน้ำแห้ง ถ้ำแห่งนี้จึงมีผู้ศรัทธามากราบไหว้ขอพรจากเพรชสีนิล และแล้วก็สมหวังดังปรารถนาทุกคน เรื่องนี้จึงโด่งดังไปถึงหู ของ นายตู่ ขุนโจนผู้ล่าสมบัติเขาร่องเรือล่าสมปล้นฆ่าไปทั่ว กระทั่งเข้าผ่านเข้ามาในถ้ำนี้ก็เพื่อจะนำเพรชสีนิลไปขายให้กับต่างชาติ ตู่มาถึงจึงไม่รีรอตัดพ้อพูดไปว่าหากข้าได้เพรชสีนิลนี้ไปขายข้าก็คงรวยเละเลยงานนี้ คำพูดยังไม่จบลง คงเป็นภัยทำให้แผ่นดินในถ้ำสั่นไหว ทันใดนั้นพญานาคร่างใหญ่กายสองสีก็โผล่ร่างขึ้นมาผงาดคาบหัว ตู่ ขุนโจนตายจากไปอย่างไม่ใยดี จากนั้นมาเพรชสีนิลจึงเป็นสถานที่สักสิทธิ์ที่ไม่มีผู้ใดกล้าจะมาถือครอง
