Day 10 – Hiking the Seven Sisters (De Syv Søstre) in Northern Norway

Welcome to Day 10 of my “100 Hikes in 100 Days” challenge.
Today we are far in the north of Norway, exploring the legendary mountain range known as “The Seven Sisters” — De Syv Søstre.

These peaks rise to around 1,000 meters and stand side by side like a dramatic wall of mountains. The name comes from an old folk tale about seven sisters who were turned to stone at sunrise while fleeing from Hestmannen.

When we arrived at the base of the mountains, it felt like spring — warm, green, and peaceful. Locals warned us that the peaks were still covered in deep snow, but we decided to climb as far as we safely could. The views along the way were spectacular: wide open northern landscapes, huge mountain walls, and endless untouched nature.

Eventually, we reached a point where the snow became too deep and the conditions too unsafe to continue. With the wrong footwear and gear for heavy snow, we made the responsible choice to stop. But there was no disappointment — only gratitude for the experience and the promise that we will return here again.

After spending hours sitting on a rock and soaking in the views, it felt amazing to step back onto grass.
This hike showed us how special Northern Norway truly is — vast spaces, dramatic scenery, and almost no people around.

This was our 10th hike out of 100.
Every day, this challenge becomes more rewarding.
