In this first video, I’m kicking off an exciting new project I’ve dreamed of for years: creating a rally tribute car inspired by the legendary 1994 1000 Lakes Rally, where T. Mäkinen and S. Harjanne claimed their first world rally win in a Ford Escort Cosworth.
The 1994 season was a rollercoaster for Ford, with François Delecour’s early victory on the Monte Carlo Rally sparking championship hopes, only to be derailed by setbacks, including Delecour’s injuries mid-season. In his absence, several guest drivers took the wheel, culminating in Mäkinen’s unforgettable victory in Finland—a pivotal moment in rally history.
In this episode, I’ll introduce the car that will serve as the foundation for this tribute project. It’s ready for spraying, and I can’t wait to bring this vision to life, step by step.
