Brighter 500Hz QD OLED - Gigabyte FO27Q5P Monitor Review
I just tested the Gigabyte FO27Q5P, a cutting-edge 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED gaming monitor with a blazing 500Hz refresh rate, full-bandwidth DisplayPort 2.1, and HDR True Black 500 certification—perfect for RTX 50 series GPUs. This monitor delivers phenomenal motion clarity, sub-23ms input latency, pixel-perfect blacks, and a glossy coating that adds unmatched depth and sharpness in dark rooms. While HDR brightness peaks at 577 nits in a 10% window and 339 nits full-screen, it still trails far behind Mini-LEDs for impactful highlights.

SDR color accuracy is decent (Delta E ~2.1), but white balance and gamma tracking need firmware improvement. HDR fares better with 81% BT.2020 coverage and improved EOTF tracking. However, ambient light handling is weak, with magenta shifts and black levels rising significantly in bright rooms. The subpixel structure also hampers text clarity at 1440p, making it less ideal for productivity work. Still, for competitive online gaming, this QD-OLED is insanely smooth, crystal clear in motion, and probably the best 1440p esports display available—just don’t count on great built-in audio or perfect SDR calibration.
