SWCP Day 39 Oddicombe to Starcross 4K

A rare appearance from the sun was all I needed to get back on the path. I set off from Oddicombe in the early morning sunshine with the hope that spring had finally arrived. The walk started with a pleasant woodland stretch along Shag Cliff before reaching Watcombe Beach. The path then skirts alongside grass fields before reaching Maidencombe and on beyond Blackaller's Cove, Mackerel Cove and Herring Cove. Having been a fairly easy walk to this point the terrain became more undulating on the approach to Labrador Bay. On towards Ness Cove before dropping down into Sheldon where the ferry is caught across the River Teign to Teignmouth. From Teignmouth you follow the railway line walking along the sea wall before heading inland up Smugglers Lane towards Holcombe. More fields are passed before heading into Dawlish and a return to more walking along the recently reconstructed sea wall. Continuing along the sea wall you are soon at Dawlish Warren where a footbridge will take you over the railway line. From Dawlish Warren you head inland following the Exe Estuary to Cockwood and onto my end point of Starcross.
