“Five Reasons People Refuse to Believe in Jesus" - John

John’s purpose in John 5:30-47 was to record the Jesus’ response to the Jews who wanted to kill Jesus. In this response, He excoriates them for their refusal to believe in Him and receive eternal life, despite the fact that John bore witness to Him, as did the miracles, the Father Himself bearing witness, and the Scriptures. The reasons they would not believe in Jesus is because they missed the entire purpose of Scripture, they didn’t love the Father, didn’t care about His approval, didn’t believe His Word, and falsely trusted in their own righteousness.

Reason #1: If you refuse to believe in Jesus, you miss the entire purpose of Scripture. (vs.39-40)

Reason #2: If you refuse to believe in Jesus, you do not love the Father. (vs.41-42)

Reason #3: If you refuse to believe in Jesus, you prize man’s opinion not God’s approval. (vs.43-44)

Reason #4: If you refuse to believe in Jesus, you falsely trust in your own righteousness. (vs.45)

Reason #5: If you refuse to believe in Jesus, you do not believe the Bible. (vs.46-47)
