Complex Permanent Tissue || Plant Tissues (Part 4) || in Hindi for Class 9

In this Science (Biology) video in Hindi for class 9th we explained the functions, properties and types of complex permanent tissue which is a type of plant tissues. This is a topic of Chapter 6 of science from NCERT.

Complex tissue is a type of plant tissue that consists of more than one type of cells which work together as a unit. There are two types of complex permanent tissues in plants, viz., xylem and phloem.

Xylem transports water and dissolved minerals from root to leaves.

Xylem has four components, viz., xylem vessel, tracheid, xylem fiber and xylem parenchyma.

Tracheid and xylem vessel transport 𝑤𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟 and 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑠. The fluid inside the xylem is known as 𝑥𝑦𝑙𝑒𝑚 𝑠𝑎𝑝. Xylem fibres are 𝑠𝑐𝑙𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑦𝑚𝑎 𝑡𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑒 and are mainly 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 in function. Xylem parenchyma stores food. Xylem parenchyma is a living cell and others are dead cells.

Phloem transports nutrition from leaves to the other parts of the plant.

Phloem has four components, viz., sieve tube, companion cell, phloem fibre and phloem parenchyma. In plants, other than angiosperms, there is sieve cell instead of sieve tube.

Sieve tubes are tubular cells with perforated walls (sieve plates). Phloem fibre is a sclerenchyma cell and it provide support to the phloem. Phloem parenchyma stores food.

Phloem fibre is a dead cell and others are living cells.
