Rediscovering the Past: Journey through Abandoned Jubilee Swimming Baths in Stoke-On-Trent

Recently I explored the abandoned Tunstall Baths in Tunstall, Stoke-On-Trent which was built as a part of a set of public buildings in commemoration of Queen Victoria’s Golden jubilee in 1887. with the baths opening in 1890.
Several years before its closure, the building was described by the Victorian Society as ‘a shining example of the role that historic pools can play in the 21st century’.
Despite a campaign to keep the pools open, Tunstall Pool was closed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council in March 2011 as part of cost-saving measures.
