We have reached the 200th episode of my Skyrim Battles series! For this special, I made a very specific type of battle: Four survivors will face endless waves of undead, similiarly to the Zombies mode in the Call of Duty: Black Ops games, including various details such as boss waves and power-ups.
There are too many things to explain, but here's an overview: Starting from round 1, different types of draugr spawn outside of the main room, and make their way into it. The map roughly resembles the lobby in Kino der Toten. It has 4 entrances which the undead can use.
I kept the map relatively basic to make it easier to get good camera angles, and to minimize the chances for NPCs to get stuck somewhere. I did add some details though to make it look a bit less plain.
Each round has a specific number of undead. Once all have been defeated, the next round will start shortly after.
Every 3rd round is a boss round with different mechanics. It starts with spectral warhounds and ends with one or more boss-type undead such as Dragon Priests, Draugr Death Overlords, and Soul Cairn Keepers. Unlike in the normal rounds, the undead in boss rounds spawn directly in the room.
Every round will be more difficult than the previous one. Draugr will spawn with higher levels in normal rounds, and bosses will have a higher chance to be top-tier, such as Ahzidal.
The amount of undead also increases with each wave, like it does in Black Ops. This includes normal draugr, bosses, and warhounds, although the numbers grow at different rates.
Every time an undead dies, it has a small chance to drop a power-up which activates immediately, indicated by a colored explosion. There are 3 types:
Max Refill restores the HP, magicka, and stamina of all survivors. Blue explosion
The Nuke incinerates and kills all undead currently active. Yellow explosion
Insta-Kill lasts for 20 seconds and makes all undead die from any damage done to them. Red explosion
When a power-up gets activated, the chances for another power-up get reduced by 75% for 15 seconds. This can stack multiple times and ensures that chains of power-ups are less likely to happen, such as an Insta-Kill or a Nuke making for very easy kills, which then activate more power-ups, etc.
The last boss of each boss wave drops a guaranteed Max Refill which is not affected by the normal drop chance. This gives survivors the chance to fully recover after a boss wave, even if they have no natural way to heal themselves.
The boss at 9:07 was a Draugr Death Overlord who got one-shot because the Insta-Kill was active.
I also added the option for the undead to gain more health each round, following the same formula as it works in Black Ops. I didn't activate it for this video though, because the warlocks usually don't make it past round 12 anyway, so it would be overkill to make the undead even stronger. I will likely keep it deactivated for most future episodes too.
The draugr types from round 1-9 are the same every time; only their spawn positions and equipment get randomized. The boss types in each boss round are random and follow a complex tier system.
Starting from round 10, a dynamic spawn system starts which adds more random draugr in each normal round. Those also follow a tier system, which makes for virtually infinite waves with increasing difficulty.
Like in Black Ops, there's a global maximum of 24 undead. Once that number gets reached, no more undead can spawn until one dies. This improves visibility and performance.
