The beauty of classical architecture is its extensive employment of order and proportion. Each part in a classical building has a specific ratio to the relationship of all of the other parts. For example, the diameter of the base of a classical column is 60 parts. If in Metric, you could use 60 centimeters, or if it's in Imperial dimensions, you could use 60 inches. A scotia molding at the base of an Ionic column is roughly 3 parts wide and 3 parts tall. Whether in Metric or Imperial the column is exactly the same, you just have to proportionately adjust the column to the desired measurement.
