The Mount Mitchell Challenge is part of the 'Black Mountain Marathon.' The race runs from downtown Black Mountain, to the summit of Mount Mitchell, almost 20 miles away. Due to, well you know by now, the race was held "virtually." I attempted this race on February 24th, 2021. This is such a great course, and I HIGHLY recommend it. The town of Black Mountain is a fantastic place to visit, and the trails of Montreat are some of the best vert you can get on the east coast.
