Jill and Kate: "The Truth Is" (Song On The 17th/May 2017)

Last week we wrote a blog about how we all feel isolated and lonely at times. The internet doesn't always help and while social media is trying to do a better job of connecting us all, it sometimes can do the exact opposite. Social media can leave us more isolated, more lonely, and more likely to compare our lives and ourselves to people we know or to people we don't even know. We both have found ourselves aimlessly with our heads buried in our phones--afraid we are going to miss something or miss an opportunity to picturesquely capture the "perfect" moment...when really we are missing out on actually LIVING life. We are missing out on experiencing the present moment. And while we love social media for obvious reasons (keeping in touch with people,etc) we have to remember that it's NOT always reality. Sometimes we can get so caught up in living life behind screens--only putting out the highlight reel of life that we forget what the truth actually is.
So, because we almost always write songs from life experience, our new song this month for Song On The 17th is called "The Truth Is" and it's all about how keeping up with people online only gives you one perspective and how that view can sometimes be skewed.
