In this video, I’m putting the Pepe Tools Electro-Melt Furnace (30oz model) to the test and showing you exactly how I use it to melt down sterling silver and pour clean ingots.
Up until now, I’ve always used a torch for melting silver but it takes time, burns through acetylene, and gets expensive with constant gas refills. This furnace has been a game-changer, giving me a faster, more efficient way to melt silver for my silversmithing projects.
When I first got the unit, I couldn’t find much information about how it worked, so I figured it out by trial and error. The main challenge was finding the right temperature and getting the metal to flow properly. After testing, I discovered that the sweet spot for sterling silver is around 1800–1840°F, which keeps the metal fluid long enough for smooth, clean pours.
👉 Pro Tip: The graphite crucible will wear out over time. I’ve already poured about 30 ingots with mine and will soon need a replacement, so I recommend ordering an extra crucible when you buy the unit.
Inside the box, the furnace includes:
Graphite crucible
Graphite stir rod
Handle attachment
Power cable

I’ll walk you through the unboxing, setup, safety tips, and my pouring process so if you’re considering this tool, you’ll know what to expect and what temps worked best for me.
