Here are 3 of the Zoo's male lions (two relatively young ones, and their father, based on the sizes of their manes) patrolling and lounging about their exhibit in the African Plains section of the Zoo. The younger males you see in this video were actually featured in an earlier video of mine, from August 2015. It's incredible how quickly they grow to be so big!
I would have loved to have gotten footage of these boys roaring. I stayed for about 20-25 minutes - much longer than the typical zoo visitor would when it's clear the lions are too tired to move around much - before moving on. But of course, no more than 10 minutes later, as I was watching the ostriches quite a distance away, I heard them all start roaring, very loudly and very deeply, too! Moral of the story = patience! Patience is key!
