He once founded a school newspaper which succeed as a business, but it failed on the editorial side. This convinced him to use his business and organizational skills to enable great journalistic work to have an impact and be financially sustainable. After traveling the world, working and studying abroad, he joined Gruner+Jahr, the biggest magazine publisher in Europe, where he finally became Publisher and Managing Director of various well-known media brands and magazines. After 16 years at Bertelsmann he left the corporate path to join a young non-profit organization. This radical professional change was driven by his belief in the power of investigative journalism. He now heads CORRECTIV as the managing director, an independent investigative newsroom. Last year they coordinated and published the investigation on the 55 Billion Euro tax robbery in Europe known as the CumEx-Files. In addition to investigative journalism, CORRECTIV fights against false information, promoting media literacy and initiates educational programs.
