Wayamba Ela canal/Wayamaba Maha Ela/ NWPCP is being constructed by MWSIP under Ministry of irrigation. Financial facilities by GoSL and ADB. This big construction diverts Mahaweli water to North western province. Area such as Galgamuwa, Ehatuwewa, Palukadawala, Yaphuwa, Polpitigama, Mahawa, Abakolawewa, Mediyawa, Siyabalangamauwa and 350 tanks will be fed by this canal
