In our collaborative blown glass sculpture series, we (Michael Schunke and Josie Gluck, artists and co-founders of Vetro Vero) meticulously construct technically precise glass cane patterns that systematically dismantle traditional symmetry. We combine relationships between order and disorder to expose the space where visual dissonance is harmonious and chaos reveals beauty. The handblown art objects touch on themes of beauty, chaos, and the spectacular mundane.

This video features the first phase in our complex design process to craft a specific "Spooled" style pattern. We combine traditional Venetian and Murano glass blowing techniques with innovative and contemporary style to create a pattern reminiscent of spooled thread. Layers of hot glass cane wrapped over the surface of a clear glass bubble accumulate into an intricate pattern that will become the interior of a substantial showpiece vessel.
